Story Mode Money: What to Expect
Mission Payouts
In GTA 5, story missions paid $5,000–$25,000 each, with heists paying $200,000–$1.2 million. GTA 6's economy hasn't been announced, but with inflation baked into fictional currencies over 13 years, expect higher nominal payouts with proportionally expensive costs.
Jason and Lucia's heist structure is central to the story. The bigger the job, the bigger the payout — and the bigger the consequences.
The Stock Market (If It Returns)
GTA 5 had the BAWSAQ and LCN stock markets — the fastest legitimate way to make hundreds of millions in story mode. Strategic investing before assassination missions could turn $200K into $2M.
If GTA 6 has a similar market (unconfirmed), it'll be the highest-ceiling money method in story mode by far. We'll cover it in detail if confirmed.
Property and Businesses
GTA 5 let you buy properties that generated passive income. GTA 6's Vice City setting — with its emphasis on crime empires and legitimate business fronts — strongly suggests a more developed property/business system. Nightclubs, car washes, real estate in Ambrosia — all possibilities.
GTA 6 Online Money: The Long Game
GTA Online's economy evolved from basic mission payouts in 2013 to a complex web of businesses, heists, and passive income streams by 2026. GTA 6 Online starts fresh — but Rockstar will build it fast.
Day One: Mission Grinding
At launch, contact missions and early jobs will be the primary income source. Learn which missions pay the most per minute — The Minimap will have a ranked list live on November 19.
Week One: Heists
If GTA 6 Online launches with heists (likely), they'll be the fastest group money method from early on. Four-player heists with coordinated setups typically pay $400K–$1M+ in GTA Online. Expect similar or higher in GTA 6 Online.
Month One: Businesses
GTA Online's business model — buy a property, invest in upgrades, sell product at peak — took months to arrive post-launch. When GTA 6 Online businesses arrive, they'll shift from active grinding to passive income with active sell missions.
Prediction: Vice City nightclubs, Leonida Keys smuggling operations, and Grassrivers criminal supply chains will be early business types.
Money Methods That Will NOT Work (Probably)
Duplication Glitches
Car duplication glitches were GTA Online's most exploited money method for years. Rockstar regularly patched them. GTA 6 Online will have the same cat-and-mouse — but don't build your economy around them.
Modded Lobbies (PC Only, Later)
PC players used money lobbies and trainers. Rockstar's anti-cheat has improved significantly. These will exist on PC eventually — but they risk bans and won't be available at console launch.
AI-Generated "Exploit" Videos

Money Cheats: Story Mode Only
GTA 5 had no money cheat (Rockstar deliberately excluded it to protect GTA Online's economy). GTA 6 will almost certainly do the same.
There will be no money cheat for GTA 6. Any YouTube video claiming otherwise after launch is fake.
